[edit] Time Processor Unit
The time processor unit has some of the characteristics of a processor. It is used specifically for tasks involving high rate input signals or generating such. All channel events are created or captured with respect to a timer. Only available in certain microcontroller units, but a good way to save processor usage for simple tasks like generating a waveform.
