[edit] Background

The station operates out of studios at the Observatory Shopping Centre in Slough.

Time 106.6 is owned by the Sunrise Radio Group - its current station manager is Simon Yates.

[edit] History

The station launched as Star FM in 1993 (later one of six local stations owned by the UKRD Group to be branded under the 'Star' moniker), managed by Valerie Handley, one of the company's receptionists.

Star FM was sold to the London Media Company in May 2006, a subdivision of the Sunrise Radio Group, owners of Sunrise Radio, who rebranded the frequency Time 106.6, in line with three other Sunrise-owned stations in Romford, Bexleyheath and Lewisham.

[edit] Programming

Time 106.6 currently broadcasts live output from 4am to 12am; travel data and news are sourced from Trafficlink and Independent Radio News respectively, the latter providing hourly three-minute bulletins during off-peak hours.

A Radio Magazine article revealed in December 2007 that the station had enforced pseudonyms on some of its presenters.

[edit] Performance

Despite the absence of a direct commercial competitor in their transmission area, Time 106.6's audience share has fallen considerably since the acquisition of the station by the Sunrise Radio Group, from 5.5% in the final quarter of 2006 to 2.2% a year later.[1] The station currently reaches 24,000 listeners a week.
