Timothy Michael "Tim" Welch is an American administrative worker, best known for his role with the professional wrestling promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Upon joining TNA in June 2003, Welch worked as a general administrator, as the director of media relations and as an assistant to the creative team, supervising scripts. He also occupied positions within the payroll, contract and talent relations divisions, and has worked as an interviewer and media liaison. In addition to his backstage roles, Welch was the ring announcer for TNA Xplosion, the syndicated television program of TNA.
In November 2004, TNA producer David Sahadi discovered that World Wrestling Entertainment (the largest professional wrestling promotion in the United States) was filming an advertisement for the 2005 Royal Rumble in the Orlando, Florida based Universal Studios, not far from SoundStage 21, the location of TNA television and pay-per-view tapings. Welch, along with several other TNA employees, visited the WWE studio, and filmed the meeting of the TNA and WWE employees. WWE was furious, and demanded that TNA hand over all footage or face a lawsuit. At TNA Turning Point 2004 on December 5, Welch was featured in a series of vignettes in which he mimicked WWE chairman Vince McMahon. Accompanied by an actor impersonating McMahon's son-in-law, WWE wrestler Triple H, Welch was shown searching the backstage area for the videotape. In the course of his search, Welch "fired" a TNA employee for dress code violations (WWE had recently instated a formal dress code which all wrestlers were obliged to abide by), refused to accept a plate of cookies from Traci Brooks, and instructed "Triple H" to destroy a likely videotape with his signature sledgehammer. Later in the evening, Welch was attacked by a midget wrestler, and subsequently removed from the building in an ambulance. The footage was then shown, albeit with WWE employees and logos blurred.
Welch returned to TNA television in February 2005 as Mr. Daggett, the lawyer of Jeff Jarrett. As a member of Planet Jarrett, Jarrett's stable of henchmen, Welch frequently butted heads with TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes. After Rhodes prohibited Jarrett from using a guitar as a weapon in his match with Kevin Nash at TNA Against All Odds 2005 on February 13, Daggett unsuccessfully tried to convince him to repeal the decision. "Daggett" made several more appearances throughout early 2005, interfering on Jarrett's behalf in the match between Jarrett and Diamond Dallas Page at TNA Destination X 2005 on March 13, wiping blood off The Outlaw's face so he would not lose a first blood match, and taking out a restraining order against Kevin Nash after he attacked Planet Jarrett member Chris Candido.
Welch (in his Mr. Daggett persona) made an appearance outside of TNA on the July 30, 2005 episode of NWA Cyberspace Shockwave, offering Abyss the chance to back out of his scheduled title match with Jeff Jarrett. He remained with TNA until October 2005, when he left the promotion.
Welch reprised his role as a Vince McMahon impersonator at TNA Turning Point 2006 on December 10, 2006.
