Tim Powles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tim Powles is the drummer with the Australian-formed band The Church. He started working with the band in 1994, with the album Sometime Anywhere (though he was mis-identified as Tim Powell on the liner notes). He became an official, permanent member with Hologram of Baal in 1998, and has worked on all of their releases since then. Tim resides in Sydney, Australia and runs a recording studio called Spacejunk. He has production credit on the Church releases, as well as a few other artists. He released a solo album, Tyg's in Space, in 1999 and played on former Go-Betweens member Grant McLennan's 1997 solo album In Your Bright Ray.

He has also played drums for The Divinyls and a few other artists and produced Penny Flanagan's album, Light Sleeper in 1998.

"Combined with a reputation as one of Australia's most solid and diversely experienced drummers (The Church, Knievel, Stella 1-11, The Divinyls, Rose Tattoo, The Venetians, to name a few), this massive depth of experience makes Tim a 'big picture' producer in the true 'A&R' sense of the word. Allowing instinct and "accident" to flourish and thrive are key ingredients on Tim's production canvas. " [1]
