Tim Matavž

Tim Matavž (born January 13, 1989, Šempeter pri Gorici) is a Slovenian soccer player. Player of FC Groningen since the 30th of august 2007. The talented eighteen year old striker signed a contract for a period of 5 years. In June 2007 Matavž was rumoured to be signed by Fiorentina [1]. But in the end it was FC Groningen that contracted him.

In the 2006/07 season he was playing as a striker for NK Gorica scoring 11 goals in the slovenian competition and he scored the only Gorica goal in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup versus Rabotnicki which was lost by Gorica by 1-2. Matavž started playing football when he was 6 and his first club was NK Bilje.

On September 26, 2007 he scored four goals for FC Groningen in KNVB Cup against IJsselmeervogels.
