Tim Mahoney (Minnesota politician)

Tim Mahoney (born 1953) is a politician in the U.S. state of Minnesota. Mahoney is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL), representing district 67A in the Minnesota House of Representatives, which includes all or portions of the Saint Paul Greater East Side, Payne-Phalen, Dayton's Bluff, and Battle Creek neighborhoods.[1][2] Mahoney was first elected to the House in 1998, when the incumbent, Jim Farrell, ran for Ramsey County Attorney. Mahoney, a pipefitter, defeated fellow DFLers Michele Ford, a legislative staffer, and Brian McMahon, a housing specialist, in the 1998 DFL primary; he went on to defeat Republican Julie Glanz and Reform candidate Andy Lamotte in the general election.[3][4] Mahoney has been reelected four times by comfortable margins.

Tim was born on September 21, 1953. The 5th child of Francis and Eleanor Mahoney. Tim was raised on the East Side of Saint Paul graduating in 1971 from Harding High School. He attended Saint Paul College to become a union pipefitter.[5]

Mahoney currently chairs the Biosciences and Emerging Technology Committee in the House and is a member of the Capital Investment Finance Division, Commerce and Labor, Finance, Higher Education and Work Force Development Policy and Finance Division, and Rules and Legislative Administration Committees.[5]
