Tim Kirkby is an English film and television director. He is most famous as director of spoof Science parody Look Around You and the new BBC sketch show its adam and Shelley.
He has his own production company, Cryptic Colouration Ltd, based in London, UK, through which he has made several films, including "The Legacy of Victor Ferns" and ‘The Blind Spot’, a feature film which was completed in 2003. A meta-physical thriller set in Brighton, which he wrote, produced and directed. It won best screenplay at the Milan Film Festival 2003.
Tim has won a Rose D'or for Best comedy, and was nominated for a BAFTA and a Comedy award for Look Around You.
In the world of commercials, his directing work includes ads for Playstation, O2, Christian Aid, Grolsch, Remington, 118 118 amongst others, and wrote and directed the biggest and most watched campaign of 2005 - the Trails for The Ashes 2005 on Channel 4, (which won several awards in UK PROMAX). He has also worked with several agencies including TBWA, JWT, AMV, Mother and Euro RSCG London and picked up a GOLDEN LION in Cannes 2007 with “Warnie” another cricket-based campaign for the Ashes down under.
In the field of music, he has made documentaries with Motorhead, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest for the multi-award winning documentary strand -Classic Albums.
Recently Tim has been working in television, with the team that brought Jerry Springer – The Opera, on the critically acclaimed “KOMBAT OPERA” for BBC2. His other projects in 2007 includes the Comedy Lab - “Shit Club” for Channel4, with producer Ash Atalla, “The Scum Also Rises” pilot for BBC3 - a Sitcom based in an Ad agency, and “We are Klang”, a series of shorts for Paramount, who were nominated for 2006’s Edi awards at the Edinburgh festival.
Tim is represented in the UK by The Agency(London), and is represented as a commercials director in the UK by Dabhandmedia(London) and in Australia by Independent Films.
