Tim Key

Tim Key (born 2 September 1976) is a British actor and comedy writer who has appeared on stage, radio and television. Tim is part of a cult dedicated to the wearing of cardigans.

Key was first noticed in the stage production Far Too Happy with the Cambridge Footlights, a total Edinburgh sell out which picked up a Perrier Award Best Newcomer Nomination. This show also featured up and coming talents Mark Watson, the comedian and Sophie Winkleman. Key pretended to be a student at Cambridge University in order to be eligible for Footlights; in fact, he had been an undergraduate at Sheffield University and was simply living in Cambridge. In 2004, Tim created Luke & Stella, a tragic play based around Luke, which he took to Edinburgh. Occasionally he performs Luke live in london comedy clubs. This show features Key's second best known catch-phrase, "Stella, Bates?". Key also performs in a two-man act called 'Freeze' with actor and writer Tom Basden, and also works regularly with comedian Alex Horne. Key is member of the British four man sketch group Cowards.

Key’s BBC radio 4 show All Bar Luke (produced by Seb Barwell) - the chronicles of a hapless "divboy", condemned to live on the outskirts of a morally bankrupt friendship group - has been commissioned for a second series.

Key appeared in a small role in the second series of Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive (Episode 5) as "Kim" - the chief executive of entertainment at the BBC. He has also featured in several advertisements, the most commonly broadcast to date being that for Strongbow Cider.

Key's short film The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island, which he wrote and performed in with Tom Basden, won Best UK Short at the 2007 Edinburgh Film Festival.

He has a flatmate called Legs, identity unknown.

In 2007, he appeared on Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, reading a poem about Deal Or No Deal.

Key's next project is hosting the 2009 coverage of Crufts.
