Tim Haspel is a fictional character on the Showtime television network series The L Word, shown nationally in the United States. He is played by American actor Eric Mabius. He is the ex-husband of Jenny Schecter with whom (after she cheated on him with a woman) he had a volatile relationship, an unhealthy combination of love and resentment on both ends. Tim is liked by many people, mostly because of his kindness, easy-going nature, and good looks. He is a successful swimming coach at a university, and was a good provider for Jenny. As Tim progesses towards forgiving Jenny, his anger becomes refreshed after noticing that she spent the night with a man. Eventually Tim leaves town, after one final sexual encounter with Jenny. He returns to Los Angeles during episode 3.10:Losing the light for a short visit with a new wife in tow, and it's clear that neither he nor Jenny have fully resolved their relationship and both carry much baggage.
During the pilot episode, Tim mentions swimming at the University of Chicago.
