[edit] Playing career
He began his minor career on the Toronto St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League in the 2000–2001 season. He played on the team for four seasons, until 2003–2004. During that time he was drafted twice, both times by Anaheim. He was first drafted 37th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, but was re-entered into the draft two years later after not joining on to the team. In the 2004 NHL Entry Draft he selected 75th overall, again by the Ducks. The next season, 2004–2005, he started his professional career on the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, and had a solid season. The next season he played on the Portland Pirates, the Ducks new minor league affiliate, and improved his play from the previous year. He began his 2006–2007 season again on Portland, but was recalled to the Ducks that season and scored his first NHL goal February 20th versus the Vancouver Canucks. He won the Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks. On June 23, 2007, the Anaheim Ducks traded Brent to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for center Stephen Dixon.
