Talk:Timeline of organized crime
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] U.S.-only organized crime ?
This is essentially a timeline of the American Mafia? So label it thus, or include other crime organisations. 82.35.34.24 03:18, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
- This timeline is intended for international organized crime, which includes the "Gangs of New York", Chinese Tongs, and other groups as well, not at all restricted to the present day Italian Mafia. While I had hoped for a bit more participation, particularly from international Wikipedians, my knowlege of organized crime outside North America is very limited although there are several entries for the Yakuza and Hong Kong Triads. If you have any information feel free to add it to the timeline. MadMax 00:44, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Merge these 50 stubs?
This page and the 50 pages it points to (rest 80 are red links) are stone dead. See [1]. The only one who contributed to these pages was User:209.213.71.78 (great work though) so I suppose that they will not grow up from stub. So I propose merging these stubs into this article. --Alvin-cs ✉ 22:09, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

- Alvin,
- Unfortunatly I haven't had as much time as I would like to regularly update the timeline, compared to while I was using User:209.213.71.78, however I do intend on finishing the timeline. I've since begun a WikiProject related to organized crime to try to gather some assistance in updating the timeline. Right now I'm trying to consentrate on the Pre-Prohibition era (my main area of expertise) instead of creating various pages with one or two events on them. Once finals are over, hopefully I can get a chance to work on the timeline. MadMax 00:44, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I propose that I might try and add to every page from 1930 to 2002. I have brief knowledge on most of those years but I would need people with indepth knowledge of particular years to afterwards edit and add what they could. I will make a start on each year and hope for others to add on to it. --Alexbonaro 10:05, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

- Alexbonaro,
- I'd certainly appreciate the help. Thanks ! MadMax 03:51, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
I agree that we should merge these pages. The ones with not much on are apparently up for deletion. And some of the years do not have many events related to organized crime. Please message me back about this idea. I would be more then happy to contribute as I am on holidays for weeks. --Alexbonaro 03:57, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

- Alexbonaro,
- I've since expaned your recent editions to the timeline, although it would really help me out if you used the standard formatting, such as a copy paste of 1910 in organized crime for example and making the appropriate changes. As for merging the entire timeline, I should point out that the vast majority of pages are vastly more expanded compared to the recent editions, ones which I've solely been working on and off for nearly a year. Unfortunatly, being a full time college student, my priorities are focused on school which, as a result, leaves me with less time to work on the timeline. MadMax 21:03, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Progress of the Timeline
- The timeline is going pretty dang well, huh? You may have noticed my contributions have severely dropped over the past 2-3 months. This was due to schooling. I'm back on board again now and will continue with the timeline, mainly (as before) 2006 in organized crime. Unfortunately the page is now baglogged to June but I should be able to get it good again. I'm excited, this timeline is such a major part of the organized crime section of Wikipedia now. Alexbonaro 09:13, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

- Alexbonaro,
- I hope you'll except my apologies for not thanking you beforehand for your contributions. If not for you, I would no doubt be still working on the years between 1880-1920. :) It's certainly understandable if you need to take some time off now and again. I hope I'll be getting around to citing the rest of the pages as well as you have with 2006 in organized crime. MadMax 07:04, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- MadMax,
- You needn't thank me, this timeline has been such a great project and loads of fun. It is deffinately going places. Alexbonaro 07:59, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
