This is to maintain consistency between Cornwall articles and to improve the quality of entries through a constant style of writing. These headings are, however, plastic and in a state of flux and although we welcome suggestions or improvements, we would appreciate discussion before any major changes to the layout yourself. Be bold - if you know something about Cornwall then put it in! We value your contributions and don't be afraid if your spelling isn't great as there are plenty of spelling and grammar experts on clean-up duty! At WikiProject Cornwall we subscribe to the policies laid down by Wikipedia - particularly civility and consensus building. We are aware that the wording on Cornish entries can sometimes be a contentious topic, especially those concerning geography. You don't have to agree with everything but there is no excuse for rudeness and these things are best solved through consensus building and compromise. For more information see WP:CornwallGuideline. These pages are not platforms for political discussion. Issues relating to Cornish politics should be restricted to those pages that directly deal with these issues (such as Constitutional status of Cornwall, Cornish self-government movement, etc) and should not overflow into other articles. Most of all have fun editing - that's the reason we all do this, right?!

Hi, I started this page inspired by the Timeline of Northumbria and Northumberland. Most of the items included are not referenced but link to the subject they describe. Also entries on the page have kept each very brief so that the page does not get overcrowded. Hope that other interested people will add to the list when they can. I have added this section to sketch the ancient history of Cornwall which pre-dates the Romans. Cornwall is unique within the UK, so far as I know, in having families still occupying settlements with the same name as the family surname with a history of continuous occupation which pre-dates the Roman Conquest. An example is Trefusis, near Flushing, across the Penryn River from Falmouth.

There are published sources: the best is a book now out of print entitled 'The Kingdom of Dumnonia' still available in public libraries in Cornwall and Devon. This includes the Dumnonian King List recorded before its collapse during the Dark Ages. There are plenty of archaeological sources and evidence for Cornwall in the Iron Age. There are very few surviving written records of the Celtic kingdoms of Dumnonia or Cornwall (other than a few remnant manuscripts and incised standing stones) because it was a primarily oral culture, and the ruling aristocracy reverted to British traditions by and large after the fall of Rome, e.g. with the re-occupation and refortification of Iron Age forts and cliff castles. The last stand of the Celts of Devon and of Cornwall, who were Christian, against the pagan/barbarian horse-eating Saxons (!) is not well documented, other than in 'The Matter of Britain' - the Arthurian saga - which has been wholly mis/re-interpreted and distorted by successive subsequent rulers of the island!

You can find the project at WP:CORNWALL just go along there and add yourself to the member list. You can put a short note about your special areas of interest too. You can also say "hello" to the other members at the talk page there. It's a good place to ask for help with articles, or to discuss improvements etc. You'll also find some ideas for jobs to do. I think the Before Christ paragraphs would be more suited to History of Cornwall article. Entries here show the timeline of Cornish history, so each entry should be preceeded with a date. Talskiddy

I've tried changing the 'Before Christ' heading into blue - or maybe it would best simply as 'B.C.' but can't seem to edit the page any more ... Any idea why not? The simplect way is just to enclose the reference in "ref tags" to do that, type <ref>insert your reference here</ref>, just after the fact that it is a reference to. (It won't look like that once you have saved it - it will generate a reference number, and then list the actual reference at the bottom of the page in the references section.
