Tillingham is a small village of roughly 1000 inhabitants[citation needed] located 8 miles from Burnham-on-Crouch and 3 miles from Bradwell-on-Sea. It is one of the many villages and towns located on the Dengie Peninsula.
The village has many historical buildings juxtaposed with brand-new developments and has several amenities such as a Medical Centre, a Post Office, two pubs and a hardware shop located about a mile out of the village.
The Village Boasts 3 thriving sports clubs, 2 of which Tillingham Hotspurs FC and Tillingham Cricket Club share the facilities on the West Field, whilst Tillingham Bowls Club is also situated on the West Field.
The Village Hall is located at the centre of the village, and there are currently (2007) plans to build a new hall adjacent to the School, on the corner of the West Field.
The village also contains one of only 19 churches of the Christian Demonination the Peculiar People.

There is one road leading through the village, called North Street, then when it passes the church and village green, South Street. To the north of the village is Bradwell-on-Sea and to the south is Southminster. There is but one primary school which is St. Nicholas C of E primary school.
