Tillamook Cheddar is a brand of cheddar cheese named for the area where it is produced in the city of Tillamook, in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Oregon, by the Tillamook County Creamery Association.

The Tillamook area was ideal for dairy cattle, and excellent butter was made in the region, but transporting the milk and butter was a problem. In the late 1800s, Peter McIntosh came to Tillamook from Canada, and had knowledge of cheesemaking. Dairy cattlemen banded together and built many small cheese factories in various places of the county, all with very high standards of production.[1]
