[edit] Football career

He started his career at Paris FC, close to his birthplace. In 2004, he was signed for Inter Milan along with Kandja Loic Lumbilla.[1] The first Serie A appearance of Belaid was in the last match of 2004/2005 season, against Reggina Calcio.

In January 2007, Belaid was loaned to PSV Eindhoven, but didn't feature for the first team. In summer 2007, he was sent on loan to SK Slavia Prague. With the Czech team he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League on September 19, 2007. However in October he was demoted to train with the club's 'B' team after disciplinary problems. Coach Karel Jarolim stated:

"I think he needs to think above all about his behaviour off the pitch, I don't like his attitude when he doesn't play or when he comes on as a substitute".[2]

A month later, Belaid was taken back to the main squad.

In January 2008, while preparing for the African cup of Nations with the Tunisian national football team, he was involved in a car crash, which resulted in the deaths of three people.[3] He was kept in custody for several days, but was later cleared of any charges by the court.[4]

[edit] International career

Belaid first France U-19 call-up was on September 2005.[5] He is also the Tunisian U-17 international.

He was call-up to the Tunisia senior team and made his debut against Mali on 16 August 2006.

His second call-up was friendly against Libya national football team, 15 November 2006, and Belaid played 76 min.
