Tihar Village is one of the oldest villages in Delhi. It was in the time of British rule also. The biggest jail in India Tihar Jail is named after this oldest village in Delhi.

Every area has its history as like this place but being such an old place Tihar Village has a lot of history even in its name. There is no other area which is too old like this place in West Delhi and Tihar Village has its charm till now in the history of West Delhi. There was no other area at the time when they make Tihar Jail that’s why they named the jail after Tihar Village.

Tihar Village is also known as Kachcha Tihar or Tihar Gaon. Once upon a time it was divided in three parts Tihar Village, Tihar 1 (Subhash Nagar) and Tihar 2 (Ashok Nagar).

It is a place with lots of cultures and religions but people live with unity and peace. Being such an old village it is still has the charm as its posh neighboring areas like Rajouri Garden and Hari Nagar.
