[edit] Abput the Rabbi Aderet articles

Before you recreate any more of these articles, please answer on this talk page these two questions:

  1. How is Aderet notable per the guidelines for biographies?
  2. What reliable, independent sources will attest to the notability?

If you recreate the article without doing so, you are subject to being blocked. —C.Fred (talk) 06:01, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Rabbi aderet

A tag has been placed on Rabbi aderet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for disruption by repeatedly creating articles on a non-notable individual. unblock me now! youre wrong! he does exist! you must be an antisemite because why should there be a biography on ANYONE on wikipedia and not him!!!! you rasist bastard hes a very important person! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tigerboy22 (talkcontribs) 06:07, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

First, you haven't addressed my questions on how he is notable and what sources document it. Second, other articles exist; articles must stand on their own merit and not in comparison to others. Third, personal attacks will only lengthen your block, not shorten it. —C.Fred (talk) 06:11, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Ok. Youre simply wrong. look him up on the internet. Aderet.net www.rabbiaderet.com and more. i was not done with my edit and you repeatedly delete and block it? Hes notale because he has 10's of thousands of followers. could i ask why their should be a profile no anyone else in the world and not him? theirs 1000 things on wikipedia on ANY priests. come on man i dont understand why your picking on this individually. contribs)

hello? are you there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tigerboy22 (talkcontribs)

Neither of the two websites you mentioned are independent. I did just do a Google search on him, and other than one editing byline (which does not a notable person make), I don't see anything on him. Further, having tens of thousands of followers in and of itself does not make him notable. However, it does increase the likelihood of him having received coverage in independent news sources.
If you have counterexamples of independent websites or news articles about him, feel free to list them here. —C.Fred (talk) 17:25, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
(Procedural note: As the message on my talk page indicates, I am busy with real life obligations. By chance, you caught me on my lunch break, when I had free time to check things. I am watching your talk page, so while it may take a day for me to reply, I will reply to your questions. —C.Fred (talk) 17:36, 8 February 2008 (UTC))

hey has all the priests on this website been in the news? even though i might be able to find a number of articles on Rabbi Aderet in the newspaper. if you feel this way then maybe everything in wikipedia that was not in an article should shut down immediately. Id be more then happy to tell a lawyer about this and it looks like the sides are in fact against you —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.183.33.26 (talk) 04:20, 9 February 2008 (UTC) you must truly be a racist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.183.33.26 (talk) 04:22, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

notable =notable adjective 1 notable examples of workmanship noteworthy, remarkable, outstanding, important, significant, momentous, memorable; marked, striking, impressive; uncommon, unusual, special, exceptional, signal.- oxford dictionary! someone with over 50,000 followers and a number of websites, who is related to the previous chief rabbi of israel, and can work miracles. seems very unnotable to me!(using sarcasm, in case you didnt get that schmuck) - love, your friend tiger ; -)

look up paul wayrich. didnt do anything spectacular just had followers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tigerboy22 (talkcontribs) 04:35, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but Wikipedia has a specific definition. In this case:
A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject.
  • If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be needed to prove notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability.
  • Primary sources may be used to support content in an article, but they do not contribute toward proving the notability of a subject.
This is documented at Wikipedia:Notability (people). —C.Fred (talk) 04:43, 9 February 2008

[edit] Rabbi Mordechai Yona Aderet

The article Rabbi Mordechai Yona Aderet has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You need to read our policies on notability, verifiability, and especially neutral point of view. If you continue to post articles about this rabbi without addressing these concerns, you are likely to be permanently blocked from editing. NawlinWiki (talk) 06:22, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
