Tightrope (TV series)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tightrope was a 1959 half hour weekly CBS American television series produced by Russell Rouse and Clarence Greene in cooperation with Screen Gems. It starred Mike Connors as a police undercover agent called "Nick" who was assigned to infiltrate criminal gangs. Despite the show's popularity, it was removed after one season due to complaints about excessive violence.[1] The theme music was composed by George Duning.
Mike Connors' character would narrate the episode, echoing film noir technique. In addition to the dangers of infiltrating a criminal gang, the police would also not know that Nick was working for the law that would bring further danger. Nick was renowned for carrying a snubnosed revolver in a holster worn behind his back rather than on his belt or in a shoulder holster.
