Tiger Park is a softball stadium located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It serves as the home field of the LSU Tigers softball team. The official capacity of the stadium is 1,000 people, however, the stadium has held more than that when important rivals come to town or during post-season tournaments. The largest crowd to see a game in Tiger Park was on April 28, 2007 when LSU hosted Tennessee before a crowd of 2,326.
The stadium was opened prior to the 1997 college softball season. Since then, it has played host to four NCAA Regional's, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2006 and hosted the 2008 SEC Softball Tournament. The 2008 season will be the twelfth and final season in Tiger Park.[1]
[edit] New Tiger Park
LSU is currently in the process of building a new Tiger Park on Skip Bertman Drive adjacent to the LSU Soccer Complex. A Groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 9, 2007 at 11:00AM (CST).
The new park will have a capacity of 1,289. Of those 1,289 seats, 587 seats will be chair-backs. The stadium will also feature an outfield berm that will be able to accommodate an additional 1,200 fans. The berm was completed in 2006 and allows for future enhancements and expansions to the stadium.
The new Tiger Park is set to open for the 2009 season.[2]
