Tiffany Williamson (born in South Carolina) is an American corporate lawyer who qualified for the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Gutshot Poker Club.[1] She went on to finish in 15th place, earning $400,000, after having spent just one year learning the game. The finish was the highest by a female in the WSOP Main Event since Annie Duke's 10th place finish in 2000.

[edit] Biography

Williamson received her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1992 and a master's degree from the University of South Carolina in 1996. She received her juris doctor from Columbia Law School in New York in 1999 and went on to work for Davis Polk & Wardwell, a New York law firm.[2] After working for the Davis Polk & Wardwell New York office for two years, Tiffany moved to the Davis Polk & Wardwell London, England office in 2001 to continue her career as a lawyer. Tiffany has also attended National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan and University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.[3]

Williamson also won her heat in the 2005 World Speed Poker Open.

In 2005, Williamson appeared on the celebrity poker chatshow Heads Up with Richard Herring to discuss her love for the game.

Although Williamson had extraordinary success for a beginning player at the WSOP, she has been the subject of some heated discussions regarding the quality of her play, which discussions she has participated in on various poker forums, including Two Plus Two and Gutshot. While continuing to work as an attorney in London, Williamson has expressed an interest in continuing to play, and improve at, the game of poker.

In 2005 she was ranked 99 on the 2005 Money List and 10th on the Women's "All-Time" Money List. Her win made her the 15th highest money finisher ever for a female in the United Kingdom.[4]

In 2006, she again entered the World Series of Poker. [5]

As of 2007, her total live tournament winnings exceed $400,000.
