Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico

Tierra Amarilla is a small unincorporated town in the Carson National Forest in the northern part of the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is the county seat of Rio Arriba County.[1]

Sabine Ulibarrí was born in Tierra Amarilla.

Tierra Amarilla is best known as the focal point of an armed struggle between the Alianza Federal de Mercedes led by Reies Tijerina and government officials in 1967.
