The TIE Defender is not only in the games. I believe it also appears in several novels (see external link to official LucasArts entry on the TIE Defender for more information).

Under the list of vehicles it is listed as being part of the Expanded Universe. Oberiko 12:14, 12 May 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. It's still important to note that it's a fictional spaceship in Star Wars, and the reversion didn't take that into account.
More generally, when talking about a fictional universe like Star Wars, it's important to note who and where a particular character (or in this case artifact) was created and used, something that the commercial owners of such series sometimes blur --Robert Merkel 12:36, 12 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Stats

The "Tech Room" in the TIE Fighter game gives these stats:

TIE Defender (T/D)
10 meters in length

155 MGLT top speed
Four laser and two ion cannons
Two warhead launchers
200 SBD shields and 20 RU hull

It's got slightly different stats in Alliance; I think they bumped its speed down to 144(-ish) MGLT; about the same as the old TIE Avenger. I'm not sure which is canonical, or if it even matters. --68.41.122.213 04:58, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
