User talk:Tibradden

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your user page, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's user page policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here? I'd appreciate hearing your views, such as your reasons for wanting this particular page and any alternatives you might accept.

There are several options available for resolving this matter:

  • If you can relieve my concerns through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
  • If you decide to delete the page yourself, please add {{Db-userreq}} to the top of the page in question and an administrator will delete it.
  • If the two of us can't agree on what needs to be done, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's user pages for discussion, which may result in the page in question being deleted.

Thank you. --FordPrefect42 (talk) 10:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

...........

Can you let me know what your concerns are? Tibradden (talk) 15:49, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

PS I thought I had written an article - have I put it in the wrong place?

Indeed, that is my main concern. Your user page is an exact copy of the article Wolfgang Holzmair - or rather of a previous version of that article. There is no problem with the article Wolfgang Holzmair - it needs some more cleanup, but the content is fine. Yet your user page and talk page are simply instruments of communication to other users of wikipedia, to let them know what you may want to tell about yourself and to get in touch with you. Keeping copies of other pages on your user page is considered inappropriate content. If you think you need a copy of the Holzmair article for experimental purposes, you may consider moving it to a subpage in your user name space, like User:Tibradden/Wolfgang Holzmair. See How do I create a user subpage? for guidance. But personally I think that there is no need for a copy, since the article Wolfgang Holzmair exists and seems to be stable. Hope I've cleared up the matter. No offence meant. Cheers! --FordPrefect42 (talk) 15:59, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

That's a relief - many thanks for the help! As you can gather I am new to Wikipedia and not at all on top of the technicalities - I am afraid I have no idea how the copy got made.... Perhaps you could delete it yourself, in case I get something else wrong?

I would also appreciate a few hints about cleanup -
