Tiago Silva dos Santos (born April 4, 1979 in Rio Taquari, Rio Grande do Sul) is a Brazilian footballer with a Bulgarian passport.

He is currently playing for Genk as a defender.

[edit] Football career

He joined CSKA Sofia from PFC Litex Lovech in 2005. He has also previously played for Palmeiras, with whom he has won the Copa Mercosur and Copa Libertadores trophies.

In January 2007, he was undergoing a two-week trial period at A.S. Roma and was to sign with the club if approved.[1]

Last month he was frequently connected to Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb, before signing a 3-year contract with Belgian First Division Club Racing Genk on July 18th.

[edit] International career

He made one appearance in Bulgaria national football team against Turkey in friendlies, in a 3-1 win on 17 August 2005.

However, Tiago Silva had already been capped for the Brazilian Youth team in the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship, so FIFA cancelled the request for a change of nationality. [2]

He still can be call-up by Brazil national football team despite his dual Brazilian-Bulgarian nationality.
