Talk:TI-82

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I saw on the Internet that this calculator will be discontinued shortly. At approximately when?? Late 2004?? 2005?? 66.245.119.206 00:24, 26 May 2004 (UTC)

I would be surprised if the TI-82 survived the launch of the TI-84 Plus. Expect it to be discontinued within three months. Grunt 17:02, 2004 Jun 4 (UTC)

Two out of 3 months have gone by since this message was wrote. Interestingly, here is a problem. True or false: something that can be concluded given that the TI-82 (which began in 1993) survived all the way to 2004, whereas the TI-80 and TI-92, both of which began in 1995, did not, is that the TI-82 was a very popular calculator. 66.245.125.9 22:48, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Now the 3 months are nearly over; in fact, only a week left before the 3 months are over. What is the current status of this calculator?? 66.245.69.5 00:31, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Now the 3 months are just ONE DAY SHORT of being completely over. Has TI mentioned any news about it?? 66.245.107.72 19:31, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)
No news about it... -- Grunt   ҈  19:42, 2004 Sep 3 (UTC)
I got a message recently saying that they haven't been discontinued yet. I suggest we wait until the TI-85 Plus (or whatever the name of the model that is the upgrade to the TI-84 Plus) comes out, which probably won't be until at least 2007. 66.245.79.225 21:48, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Unimportant article. Boring too.

Explain why we have TI-81, TI-83, TI-83 Plus, TI-84 Plus, etc., then. They are real objects and they do have real importance. -- Grunt (talk) 15:19, 2004 Jun 26 (UTC)

TiCalc.org no longer points to a useful site, so I have removed its link in the TI-82 article. -Chrono 04:30, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

That was an april fool's joke. Link re-added. --72.145.221.129 10:04, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A bit of misinformation on this article

The TI-82 was actually a stripped down version of the TI-85, not an updated version of the TI-81. The TI-82 WAS designed to replace the TI-81 though.
