Thunderhead, Son of Flicka is a 1945 family film directed by Louis King. It was adapted to screen by Dwight Cummins and Dorothy Yost from the novel by Mary O'Hara, and is based on the second book in the series, following Flicka, which was filmed in 1943 and remade in 2006.

Near the end of the movie, Thunderhead fights the albino horse to save the boy's life and eventually kills the albino horse. After killing the albino horse, he rounds up the other horses and takes them to the boy's dad's place. The boy then tells his mom and dad about the event. His dad tells his son that Thunderhead is a king and has to roam free. So the boy takes the ropes off Thunderhead and the mighty stallion roams free.
