[edit] Sports

All students in 9-12 are required to take physical education until they have three years worth of PE in high school. However, the junior high and high schools also have sports teams which compete against other schools. The school currently has intramurals for basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football. There are also have varisty levels for each of these sports.

[edit] Campus Ministries

An active part of academy life where students can get involved in a variety of activities designed to bring the student body and staff together to learn, to teach, to serve, and to have fun.

Campus Ministries is committed to: Providing quality education and opportunities as One School Serving, worshipping, and modeling to others One God All to the Glory of God One Focus

CHURCH AND SABBATH SERVICES

“And let them make Me a Sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst." Exodus 25:8-9

Each Sabbath the students have the opportunity to be encouraged, mentored, involved, and trained as they participate and respond to Christs’s leading in their lives. By being involved the students experience the beauty and relevance of what church means.

Sabbath services are held on campus as the students, faculty, and members of the Thunderbird Scottsdale Church meet together each week. Student–led Sabbath School classes and discussion groups are part of the Sabbath School programming where students develop and use group leadership skills as they worship and praise God. The church service is combination of praise through song, prayer, and speaking as the church body worships God together.

YOUTH QUALITY TIME “Youth Quality Time” is normally held on the first Sabbath of the month as the youth put on the entire church service. From speaking and singing, to greeting and welcoming, it’s all done by the youth for the youth and others young at heart. The morning starts out with a special brunch where students and staff fellowship and later moves to the chapel for church.

YQT is a high Sabbath for the students because it gives them the opportunity to be 100% involved in church. Our desire is for each student to become involved as an active church member, because when youth are involved it makes them feel like they belong.

EVANGELISM

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:19, 20

The students have many opportunities to have firsthand experience in evangelism both locally and through mission trips. Over the past four years many students have had the opportunity to participate in an overseas mission trip to either Peru or the Dominican Republic. On these trips the students assisted Marantha Volunteers in building church buildings, assisting with Vacation Bible Schools and church services.

During the 2006-2007 school year, the students of TAA have another opportunity to become involved in an out of the country mission trip. This mission trip will differ from the previous trips in that the students will be the featured speakers at twenty-five different locations in the Dominican Republic presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ.

A local youth evangelistic campaign is scheduled for April 9-21, 2007 in the Phoenix metro area. The students will hold an evangelistic campaign for both churched and non-churched youth. The students will receive firsthand experience as they do the ground work and realize the impact they have on others around them as God uses them “for such a time as this”.

OUTREACH

“If someone who has worldly means sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in him? Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.” 1 John 3:17, 18

We believe strongly in outreach because Jesus’ ministry consisted primarily of ministering to the needs of others. We do this through various avenues and events throughout the year and with two major school-wide community outreach days each year. All of our Ministry Groups give the students opportunities to get involved using their talents and gifts and sharing with others their love of God.
