Thunder Mountain is a mountain located in Sierra Nevada mountain range of California. The mountain's summit is located between Silver Lake to the west and Kirkwood Mountain Resort to the east.[1] The mountain has two summits, one is a 9,408 ft (2,868 m)-high western-subpeak marked on topographic maps as Thunder Mountain and the other is an unmarked peak at an elevation of 9,410 ft (2,868 m) located to the east of the subpeak.[1] The eastern summit is also the county highpoint of Amador County.[1] Due to the high elevation, most precipitation that falls on Thunder Mountain consists of snow.[2]
