A recent edit changed "Some TGPs also attempt to trap the hapless viewer by ..." to "Some of these fake TGPs also attempt...". I don't think this change is correct. There are many TGPs that link to genuine galleries yet employ the techniques described. I'm happy to give examples via email. I reverted. AxelBoldt 09:35, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)

- I would rather not provide these sites with free publicity. AxelBoldt 22:32, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)

- It wouldn't be publicity. It's not like any wikipedian would be very interested in visiting a popup/spyware/dialer-ridden TGP just to get his porn. It would be research, so that people can confirm that this actually is a TGP (not a fake TGP) and that it has dialers/spyware, etc. So please, post them here. :) Paranoid 06:31, 23 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Regarding the non-thumbnail galleries, circa 1996 many galleries were like this or like this. Check out archived version of Persian Kitty for more examples. Paranoid 09:55, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Oh I see what you are getting at; I didn't quite understand the sentence "Before TGPs..." especially since it occurred in the article before TGPs had been explained. I'll try to reformulate. By the way, do you know more about the history of the TGP concept? Was there a specific inventor and a first TGP? AxelBoldt 22:32, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I don't know that. Paranoid 06:26, 23 Jul 2004 (UTC)
This page needed a serious cleanup. I created a category for CJ sites, deleted blatant links to TGPs and added some external links providing more information for the surfer. Jsderwin 20:04, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fetchgals
Fetchgals's database of TGPs is one of the largest collection of trash TGPs that I've seen in a while! Nearly all are filled with spyware and child porn. Should it really be linked to from Wikipedia?
- From my understanding, fetchgals is software that can automatically download the material linked to from TGPs. So spyware is not an issue: the user never visits the TGPs and fetchgals presumably won't download the spyware. If however fetchgals does indeed come with a database of child porn sites, then we should indeed remove the link (and notify authorities). I haven't checked. AxelBoldt 03:04, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Edited Inaccuracies
I edited the CJ section to only include relevant information about what a CJ is and removed the invalid part of the title "and other deceptive practices"... I added a new section to describe security risks. I also added a link to [AskDamageX] because it is currently the largest discussion forum for tgp webmasters.Nationx
