[edit] How can I contact you?

I generally prefer messages on my Talk page, but I also have multiple email addresses, and I am happy to receive communication from other Wikipedians at two of them.

If your message is unsuitable for my talk page or unrelated to Wikipedia, or you are unable to add a message there, for whatever reason, you should send me an email. A good rule of thumb for whether a message is suitable for a talk page or not is to note that it is publicly readable. If you would be uncomfortable with someone leaving the same message for you where anybody can read it, then send me an email. Otherwise leave a message on my Talk page.

  • I will read all messages on my talk page.
  • I will try to read all emails sent to me, although I can't guarantee it.

[edit] What about spam?

I use active anti-spam measures, meaning that any message sent to me that the system considers "spam" will not be delivered to my inbox, although both false positives and false negatives are generated.

[edit] Will you reply to my message?

If I feel a reply is apropriate, then I will reply, but I will not reply to every message I receive. If you definitely want (or do not want) to receive a reply, say so in your message.

  • I will normally reply to messages on my talk page on your talk page.
  • I will normally reply to emails by email to the address you sent it from.
  • If you want me to respond differently to this, make this explicit in your message
    • if this means replying to a (different) email address, make sure you include it in your message (if you are sending and email and know how to do it, set this as the reply-to address).
  • Occasionally I may reply from a different address to that which you sent the email to.

    • You can send email to this address by selecting the Email this user option from the sidebar.
  • Work: It is not currently appropriate for me to publicise my work address

[edit] Will I get a delivery/read receipt message if I ask for one?

    • If you are on a .ac.uk domain, you may get a delivery receipt message.
    • If you are on any other domain you will almost certainly not get a delivery receipt message.
    • You will not receive a read receipt message

  • I normally post on my user page when I will be away from Wikipedia for any significant amount of time.
  • At any time of the day or night I may be busy or away from my computer, and thus unable to reply quickly.
