Three great nobles

In Japan, Three great nobles are figured playing an important role in the Meiji restoration. They are called Ishin no Sanketsu (維新の三傑 Three outstanding heroes in the restoration?) in Japan.
They are:
- Ōkubo Toshimichi of the Satsuma Domain (Satsuma-han)
- Saigō Takamori of the Satsuma Domain (Satsuma-han)
- Kido Takayoshi (also known as Katsura Kogorō) of the Chōshū Domain (Chōshū-han)
These three people died one after another between 1877 (Meiji 10) and 1878 (Meiji 11).
