Thrace (satrapy)

Thrace was a satrapy of the Achaemenid Empire. It was conquered by general Mardonius, under the reign of Darius the Great. Herodotus places the Thracians, along with the Hellespontines and Mariandynians, in district III/b of the Achaemenid Empire.[1]
