[edit] Samurai Ryuuma

Isn't he the main character from an earlier Oda short story (Dragon Slayer, iirc), part of the WANTED! collection? The chapter does reference him killing a dragon, plus the name was the same, and I think the kimono was the same style, barring some rotting here and there. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to that compilation, so can anyone verify it? --Wtrmute 20:49, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Someone at Arlong PArk pointed it out... Seem legit. We need to wait for the respective vol. to come out, maybe Oda will shed some light on the matter. Angel Emfrbl 22:15, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Working on Page

Can everyone reframe from placing speedy delete on this page... Its in the process of being improved, it was just created! Angel Emfrbl 20:43, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Explaination

Okay since this is apparently required...Here we go:

The idea of this page, is that it is based on the lastest arc from One Piece and is currently being set up like many of the other organisations. Its been called for over 3 weeks now by everyone working on those pages and needs at least 48 hours after being made before being considered deleting. The reason for this is simply we need everyone to see its here, some editors only pop in for a peek at the pages).

Much info is missing, I'm not terribly great at first setting up pages, so do will apologise for that part. I'm working on some of the references, I'll have a few starters up sortly. in the mean time, to the rest of wikipedia - I am sorry for all this hassle. I've not had a problem with creating pages before and my understanding of the speedy delete rule is vague sometimes (get things confused between this and the normal delete). ^-^' Angel Emfrbl 21:11, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

This page is still under reorgainsation, everything has been moved from 3 different pages and pasted together. At the moment its a little messy. Here is an example of the page layout and finishing page if anyone is intereasted:
Red Haired Pirate Crew
When finished, it should look something like that, only apparently longer it seems, lol. Angel Emfrbl 21:27, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I will get to work on adding the 4 generals--Ctstrawhat910 21:32, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Normally, I'd have a go about adding stuff this soon. But right now - just get the stuff on the page!!!
Incidently, another disappointment is hitting me - when the info was on the minor and animals page it held no refs... So now I've added here this page has no refs attached to it. People, please your forgetting the basics of wikipedia here:
<ref name="Insert a unique name here"> Then the note of info and ref here</ref>
Come on, this is one of the most important codes on wikipedia, without it the whole page is not legit! Angel Emfrbl 21:43, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Crap, forgot about refs, got all of my info from youtube posted scanlations and arlong park translations(doubting either one counts). On the brighter side I have finished the stuff on the zombie generalls and will now fix spelling errors.--Ctstrawhat910 21:47, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm... Okay this should be fine for now. I don't know for how long but I've lost time today to work on the page. I forgot about sandbox pages... I haven't created a page in a while, so I forgot about this. Its been several months, I've been mostly doing anti-vandal and general edits on wikipedia since August.
We have one picture so far which I added that was already on wikipedia. Luckily, it hadn't been put up for delete because it was orphaned. The page needs 2 or 3 more, but I'd add at least one of those as one of the non-important figures on Thriller Bark... Say the Cereberus or an example of one of the zombies. Angel Emfrbl 22:18, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] speedy deletion

Dude, I just looked at the criteria for speedy deletion and this article is fine, I don't understand why it would get deleted. Because its new? Theres really no good reason for deletion. This article also is not a stubb and has good information. It's just as good as other pages.--Ctstrawhat910 22:20, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Because I blundered and forgot to do a sandbox first so only a half attempted page got set up...
As I stated above, this is my bad as I haven't created a page in a while. When it was first set up, I just set up a page simulair to the other crew realted pages, everyone just pitched in and got them up to sniff without any problems at all. They all started the same, the basic info was pulled together from each page and later organised together. Though, wikipedia wasn't as fierce towards articles 6 months ago as it is now, that much I do note (hell, the rules on general things have changed as well which isn't helpful). Angel Emfrbl 22:26, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] cereberius

I have a great cerbeus picture but how do i upload onto here--Ctstrawhat910 23:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Lefthand column navigation bar (it has the wikipedia logo at the top), under the search section - titled "Upload File". Angel Emfrbl 07:13, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
We have a picture of the ship of most of the other crews... Anyone got a decent one of Thrilelr Bark? Mine are just uncleaned RAWS. Angel Emfrbl 18:44, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] dont delete

this page was needed, but needs much improvement. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.160.194.89 (talk) 18:26, 30 March 2007 (UTC).

Yeah, we know. It actually isn't liable for S.Delete anymore but we just can't remove the tags... Well, at least I can't. Angel Emfrbl 18:39, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Careful

Becareful with that reference to the Samuri from Oda's other story guys. Speculation is not sought after on wikipedia as facts are always preferred. Currently, the fact it is a note is okay. Whatever you do don't write "this could be based on..." or anything else along those lines.

I'll also remind everyone that "could", "might" and "maybe" are a few of the words that easily transform a statement into a speculation. I'll also remind you that comparison to OTHER anime series is also unacceptable and counts as speculation unless Oda adresses it and says it is not. Angel Emfrbl 15:26, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Renaming as "Moria Pirates"

Well, very good job, but since we have all the pirate group named after their leader, shouldn't we go the same for this page? What d'ya think? Cuttyflam 08:44, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

As explained once already. With all other pirates were had a given name supported by text from the manga - Kuro's pirates where Blackcat Pirates, buggy's pirate, Whitebeard's pirates, Don Krieg's Pirate Armada, the S.(forgot name) Alliance... Etc and we named them that way. We have no evidence for "Moria Pirates" but we have for "thriller Bark". So since we can only use a given name, Thriller Bark it is. Angel Emfrbl 09:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Adding to this since its now over... Yeah never once was TB called this name. In fact from the last few chaps of this arc, the Moria Pirate seemed to be the best name you could use to call Moria's late crew who are dead. So Moria Pirates and Thriller Bark are two different crews. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 21:34, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] one of four?

For the animal zombies it says that they are one of the four types of zombies on thriller bark. After that I counted the surprise zombies and the soldier zombies. Anyone care to post the fourth type?

Animal... Surpise... Soldier... And General. All four types there you go! Angel Emfrbl 17:58, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn't say that genrals and soldiers are different types of zombies. I was thinking of the spiders as the fourth type.--71.248.163.211 23:34, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Those are the four types. Even the spiders fall into the other categories. Angel Emfrbl 06:19, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why Perona?

First of all,Perona apeared quite late in the arc and stil is the only one to have the picture stay-as well as that weve seen less sceens of her then both Absalom,Ryuma and most of all,Hogbakc, who is the FIRST of the mysterious four to appear.I agree with removal of individual zmobie pictures, maybe except for Oz,but why is PERONA given so much prominence?

Arguments for Hogback to have a picture: 1.Hogback was mentioned first. 2.He appeared first. 3.He was in more scenes that Perona (invitation plus the dinner, talk with invisible absalom, work on "Mario" plus mysterious four introduction, gathering at Morias dance hall, freer, flashback by Brook) whereas perona appeared in the M-4 (mysterious four) introduction, at the ship at at Morias dance hall and freezer (plus a scene where she is "not seen" sleeping)so Hogback gets the better. Also, countin individual panels hes appeared in so far,he would win anyway.

New Babylon 2 15:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I was not responsible this time BB2. This time they got deleted due to not being counted as "free"-whats-it-called. I think its' up on the page here somewhere. Several pages got the same treatment, including the Gold Roger page. Angel Emfrbl 15:59, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About "Oz"

Look, I don't really care how they say "Oz" in the Japanese "Wizard of Oz", it doesn't necessarily mean the same thing for THIS Oz. - Smashman202 00:16, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Well... What else do you translate it to? There isn't much (really) you can translate things into. You know what would be helpful; you list all the "other" possiblities.
Its like with Cindry, you can also turn her name into "Thin Dolly" (which judging by her appearance I tend to wonder if this is what Oda was aiming to call her) because "Shin Dori" can also be turned into Cindry apparently... But I'm not going to argue otherwise with translations, least not until the anime comes out and we can hear what they call her then. Angel Emfrbl 08:28, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Alright, I see whats going on here Smashman. Didn't know someone showed everyone Wizard of Oz thingy. But still, the translators all call him Oz that I know of (some say Ozu), we're putting up what it is in English here, so what "Odz" in Japanese would still be "Oz" in english. Angel Emfrbl 08:31, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, that's what I was lookign for, (BTW, I'm BattleFranky202 from One Piece Wikia!) - Smashman202 05:17, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I've seen it now Arlong Park. Now everyone calls him "Odz" there. Kinda annoying actually because Odz is just a translation into Japanese of Oz. Angel Emfrbl 09:14, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Not really. His Japanese name is the name for the Norse god Óðr or Ódr. The name Odz is basically a combination of that and the z from the end of his name to avoid confusion. The problem is how to deal with that. It's not "Oz" because it's clearly the name of the Norse god. "Odz" is basically a made-up name. Óðr and Ódr don't really display how to pronounce his name. The Splendiferous Gegiford 21:23, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Not looking for an argument... But I think we need to wait for the anime to finally silence the debate. It will show us (hopefully) how the Japanese text intends it to be pronounced. Angel Emfrbl 14:50, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Japanese text is pronounced Ōzu, sounding like Ohz. That much is written in the article already. The Splendiferous Gegiford 22:55, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Not quite what I meant... Sometimes the anime clears up the confusion is what I meant to get across, about what some names should be. Angel Emfrbl 23:21, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
His name is not supposed to be Oz. It is a mistranslation. In Japanese it is romanized as Ouzu not Ozu. So, his name is either Ouzu, Ouz, or Odz not Oz.
Stick to Oz until the evidence in latin text is supplied please. And "Odz", is just an alteration on "Oz" used by the Japanese... So the English translation is still "Oz" to us. Ozu and Ouzu are more acceptable (least the pronouncation reflects this). Angel Emfrbl 12:29, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
On another note, I've seen "Ozma" incorrectly put as "Ozuma" when it was correct as "Ozma" in Japanese (mentioning this because "Oz" out of "Ozma" is the same). Angel Emfrbl 12:32, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Wanted to bring this up again since "Oz" is still extremely inaccurate. You keep saying to wait til evidence of his name shows up to change it, yet you insist on keeping "Oz" despite there being lots of evidence that it's not the correct spelling. The Splendiferous Gegiford (talk) 06:44, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

The conversation is pretty much reduntant now, at the time the name was still being questioned by translators who kept arguing about which was correct. I'd like to point out though, evidence is seeing it in Latin text from Oda's sources. I guess right now... Since translators seem to have settled things on the name now, whatever is most accurate. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 12:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm not saying that "Odz" is correct necessarily, just that Oz is obviously wrong. Honestly, I think the best name to use until we see any evidence otherwise would be Óðr. The Splendiferous Gegiford (talk) 18:31, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

I have to agree with Gegiford. Even Greg, Ivotas and Kanemaki from Arlong Park Forums already proofed that Oz is a wrong translation:

http://www.apforums.net/showpost.php?p=688586&postcount=402 http://www.apforums.net/showpost.php?p=694840&postcount=419

Reaper9 (talk) 10:19, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Then lets all settle on a name and move forward now. I'm backing Geg on his choice for now. As I said, all evidence is settled on Oda's latin text version, but lacking that I'll go with whatever the translators say is best. Question: How is the anime pronouncing it BTW? Angel Emfrbl (talk) 17:50, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Accuracy of horo

I have marked a portion of perona's section as needing a citation. Can anyone point me to a source for horo = ghost that doesn't come from a chapter translation itself? I have looked at numerous dictionaries, googled, and even asked a friend more knowledgeable in japanese than I am and from all that we can find this is not the case. It can mean cover as someone pointed out to me, and it could even be short for hologram (horoguramu) which would sort of make sense since she is a projection without substance, (edit, woops hit submit before finishing train of thought) but nothing about ghosts or spirits. If this is not a very esoteric slang or dialect word translation then it needs to be removed as it is not accurate. That Lamer 13:40, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Its pretty clear "horo" is trying to be "hollow" in some way as all of her attacks contain "hollow" (negative hollow for example). She also describes her ghost form as her "hollow" self. My comment. Angel Emfrbl 16:50, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dogpen

Can we stop using this name? There is no dog-pen its an ENGLISH fan made up thingy to explain what Sanji's zombie is. Its just one of the penguin trio, you can call it "Sanji's zombie" but "Dog-pen" doesn't exist at all. Angel Emfrbl 21:56, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
