Thornton-Cleveleys

Thornton-Cleveleys is an unparished area in the English local government district of Wyre, Lancashire, covering the towns of Thornton and Cleveleys. It forms part of the Greater Blackpool area.

The civil parish of Thornton became an urban district in 1900, and was renamed Thornton-Cleveleys in 1927.[1]

On April 1, 1974, the urban district became part of the Borough of Wyre. Thornton-Cleveleys corresponds with six wards of the borough.

According to the 2001 census Thornton-Cleveleys has a population of 31,157. The population of the individual borough council wards was recorded as:

  • Bourne: 6,121
  • Cleveleys Park: 5,994
  • Jubilee: 4,186
  • Norcross: 3,738
  • Staina: 5,267
  • Victoria: 5,851[2]
