[edit] Additional Faculty/Staff

Karen L. Bilbao, Acting Superintendent for Middletown Township Public Schools enlisted Peter Smith as a vice principal to run alongside Victa McKenzie and Jack Gallagher. The township hopes that by hiring an additional vice principal, discipline issues will become less of a problem at Thorne.

As of September 3rd, 2007, Middletown Township Public Schools have enlisted an additional vice principal, social worker, and district representative to help assist in the discipline problems Thorne Middle School is facing. The township also installed security cameras in the hallways of Thorne Middle School.

[edit] Alternate School Program

The alternate middle school program classroom has been setup. The program will begin this year. Unlike what was stated in the original outlines, the program will be taking place within the school instead of outside of it. Students part of this program will not have interactions with Thorne Middle School students while in the building. This program was designed to help assist students who have special needs including disciplinary issues.

Project details are stated in theJuly 25th board minutes[1]. Original project plans are outlined in the Middletown Township Public School District's May/June 2007 Superintendent's Update [2]
