Thomson's Falls
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thomson's Falls is a 74 m (243 ft) scenic waterfall at the Ewaso Nyiro River, which drains from the Aberdare Mountain Range. It is situated near the town Nyahururu in central Kenya, at 2,360 m (7,750 ft). Discovered in 1883 by Joseph Thomson, a Scottish geologist and naturalist who was the first European to walk from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the early 1880s.
The mist feeds the dense forest below. Visitors can view the falls from above, or there's a trail down to the bottom of the ravine. Up stream from the falls is one of the highest hippo pools in Kenya.
