Thomas Johnson (1802-1865) was a Methodist missionary and a member of the Kansas territorial legislature. He was robbed and murdered in 1865. Johnson County, Kansas is named for him. Johnson was a known slave holder in Kansas and sided strongly with the proslavery group in Kansas.
