Thomas Jefferson High School is an American public secondary school located in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. It is a part of the West Jefferson Hills School District which includes West Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills and Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania. These communities have a combined population of 20,000. It is a suburban high school located nine miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

[edit] Extracurricular activities

The Thomas Jefferson football team has won WPIAL Class AAA Championships in 1980 at Pitt Stadium and in 2004, 2006, and 2007 at Heinz Field. Also in 2004 and 2007, the TJ football team won the PIAA State Championship in Hershey, Pennsylvania.[1] The boys soccer and hockey teams have also won numerous PIAA state championships.

The school newspaper is called the Statesman, though it was named the Patriot up through the early 90s. The yearbook is titled the Monticello and the literary magazine is named the Spectrum.

TJ has a large band which was featured as the WPXI Band of the Year in 2006 and 2007.

The theatre program is also highly lauded, winning the Gene Kelly Awards [1] in 1993 and 1995. TJ is noted as the first public high school to perform the musical Godspell in 1993.
