Thomas FitzMaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry

Thomas Fitzmaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry (1668 - 16 March 1741) was the son of William FitzMaurice, 20th Baron of Kerry and Lixnaw, and Constance Long.
Originally the 21st Baron Kerry, he was created Earl of Kerry in 1723.
He married Anne Petty, the daughter of scientist and philosopher Sir William Petty and Elizabeth Waller, Baroness Shelburne in 1692.
Fitzmaurice was a Member of Parliament for County Kerry Ireland from 1692 to 1693 and again from 1695 to 1697.
He succeeded to the title of 21st Baron of Kerry and Lixnaw in March 1696/97 and was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) before April 1711.
Fitzmaurice gained the title of Earl of Kerry on 17 January 1723, together with the subsidiary title Viscount Clanmaurice, both in the Peerage of Ireland.
