[edit] Work

Thomas Demand is known for his unique approach to photography. He makes photographs of three-dimensional models look like real images of rooms and other spaces.

The subjects represented in Demand’s photographs often relate to scenes of cultural or political relevance, they range from the archives of German filmmaker and National Socialist propagandist Leni Riefenstahl to the kitchen in Saddam Hussein’s hideaway in Tikrit, Iraq.

Demand represented Germany at the Bienal de São Paulo in 2004 and his work was the subject of a mid-career retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 2005.
