This article should be renamed Thu Mi Sam Bhota or Thumi Sambhota, in accordance with the Tibetan script. --Lhamo2008 (talk) 22:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

The name of this fellow varies widly in different texts, thon mi thu mi and many others are attested. Also, a language textbook is hardly a reliable source for 7th century Tibetan history. R. A> Miller (who has a wiki page) and Yamaguchi Zuiho have extensively investigated the history and legends about this figure. Tibetologist (talk) 00:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I have checked various texts, and it does appear to be spelt differently. Yes, this reference is from a modern textbook of Tibetan language, however a similar account of the origins of Tibetan language can be found in numerous Tibetan texts on Tibetan grammar. I don't think that a language textbook is an inappropriate reference, considering the subject is the creator of the Tibetan language. --Lhamo2008 (talk) 11:16, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Languages do not have creators. Do you think everyone just grunted in Tibet before Thonmi came along? To establish the biography of a 8th century figure requires primary evidence from that time period, and the relevant secondary literature is available in the authors I cited above. A first year grammar of Russian is not where one would look for information about the biography of St. Cyrill. Tibetologist (talk) 17:00, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
