"It is not clear if the name Rhymer was his actual surname or merely a soubriquet."

In the 13th century, aren't the two interchangable? Surnames were simply descriptions to distinguish between dozens of Thomases etc.

[edit] Weasel words...?

"After a number of years had passed Thomas is said to have returned[weasel words] to Fairyland, whence he has not yet returned." Surely that's simply the way folklore works -- nowt wrong with that. Unless anyone has any objections, I'm going to strip that weasel words tag out. Prof Wrong (talk) 11:20, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
