There seems to be a name-confusion. Several links on a captain who discovered pacfic islands in 1788 (Gilbert Islands, Matthew and Hunter Islands lead to this Thomas Gilbert. Is this really the same person? It seems that the Thomas Gilbert mentioned here has no naval background.--Legalides 12:55, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes I believe you are correct, nothing I read about Thomas Gilbert said anything about him discovering any pacific islands, I think the person who wrote the article is confused, or just plain lazy (Nick Pollman 5:29, April 29th, 2008)
