[edit] Cheerleading Edit
My edit of cheerleading cleared up the fact that while casual cheerleading is not a sport, competitive cheerleading is. I supported this with a couple of reputable references. Maybe a section could be added to the article clearing up this misconception. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.2.130.88 (talk) 02:33, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Don't take the 'vandalism' thing too personally. The whole cheerleading sport/non-sport debate has quickly become one of my pet peeves and unfortunately have had a short fuse. According to Wikipedia's definition of sport, there usually is competition, but it isn't necessary, so for consistency Cheerleading should be considered a sport here. I have thought about setting up a section that talks about the debate. Maybe you could develop it.Thinkbui (talk) 07:38, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
The problem with the 100 year thing includes:
- It does not need to be in the intro. The intro needs to describe what the thing is. Think of it as a thesis in a paper. The "100 year institution" may imply grandeur or something, so it may also be considered POV.
- Plus, use specific years or year ranges (i.e. 1880s, 1890s) instead of 100-year old, etc. The intro already says that it dates from the late 1890s... WhisperToMe (talk) 22:05, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. :) Thinkbui (talk) 00:59, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Hdr logo.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Hdr logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:16, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
