[edit] Note
I was on RC patrol when someone vandalized by commenting and blanking an article. The user also mentioned your name. The diff is located here. Comments?--RyRy5 (talk) 00:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- I see. Oh, and good luck on your RFA. Cheers.--RyRy5 (talk) 00:31, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- 50/50. The user is trying to learn how wikipedia works, but by doing so, he blanks pages. It is vandalizing, but that is a hard question. I suggest leading him to the WP:SANDBOX or suggesting him making an account. But that's my opinion. Comments?--RyRy5 (talk) 00:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikijumping
Actually, they're allowed to remove the PROD even without improving the article - the PROD notice says "You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to its deletion for any reason." I think that's because PROD is only meant to be for totally uncontroversial deletions. If the PROD notice is taken off, the only place to go is AfD, which I have done here. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:19, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] No worries.
No worries :). Around 6% of NYC's current population is around 400,000 - 500,000. Plus, considering the city's status as having the US's most numerous LGBT community, I think that's an accurate figure.

[edit] You are confused
Your revert and comments demonstrate that you have failed to read the section you removed.
Here is a timeline of events, with quotes from the article:
- 1) "In December 2007, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board..."
- 2) "April 22, 2008 education board's Academic Excellence and Research Committee unanimously voted against allowing the ICR to issue science..."
- 3) "On the following day the full Board unanimously voted against allowing the ICR to issue science degrees."
Thus, there are two different votes and the material is not, as you said, "stated twice."
Moreover, all mainstream science organizations are going to be "opposed to creationism." However, the opposition is not reason to leave out a WP:RS. Paper45tee (talk) 22:54, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, your edit summary is childish. If you aren't going to bother reading the article or understand's WP:NPOV's policy on pseudoscience/creationism, then at least don't leave immature comments devoid of policy in the summary. Paper45tee (talk) 23:01, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] anti-Americanism Revert
It's not helpful to merely contradict another editor. If you are going to assert that the material is properly sourced, you should make an effort to explain why you think that. This matter has been discussed extensively in Talk. Here is an example of what you just called "properly sourced" in the article. In fact, it does not have a single source, so what exactly are you talking about???
-
- The Middle East region has been a focal point of much anti-American sentiment in the latter decades of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st, often blamed on specific U.S. policies in the region, particularly its close relationship with Israel and its stance on such matters as Sudan's civil war and Darfur. However, some argue that the real roots lay in government policy as reflected in state-directed media. By this reasoning, America is blamed for failed systems in the Middle East, as a means of re-directing internal dissent outwards, towards what Osama Bin Ladin has called "the far enemy", America, instead of at indigenous regimes.
- The term Great Satan, as well as the chant "Death to America" have been in continual use in Iran since at least the Iranian revolution in 1979. The Iranian capital Tehran has many examples of anti-American murals and posters sponsored by the state; the former U.S. Embassy in the city has been decorated with a number of such murals.
Life.temp (talk) 23:39, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Response fom my Talk page....
- No, the examples you gave are not properly cited. The polls you mention do not describe themeslves as indicators of anti-American sentiments, and the respondents to those polls didn't describe ther responses as anti-Americanism. So, in fact, Wikipedia is the only place that calls those polls anti-Americanism. For us to call it that is original research. Maybe you could be bothered to spend 1 day on the Talk page discussing the many issues with this article before going around reverting things. Life.temp (talk) 00:06, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Unsourced: "While not to the extent of Europe there is a rising attitude of anti-Americanism in Australia.[citation needed] However, anti-American sentiments have been present in Australian culture since the settlement and incorporation of the Australian continent by the British Empire in 1788, in which a mixture of anti-Americanism and Anglophilia developed in Australia and shaped the nation's views towards the United States and Great Britain. In recent years, the close relations of George Bush and John Howard, as well as unconditioned support for the War on Terror, has led some to believe that Australia has become a "lap dog" to the U.S. The continued war in Iraq has also led to an increase of anti-Americanism. "
- Unsourced: "The reaction to U.S. unilateralism has been nourished by a complex of fears, two in particular: the presumed economic and cultural Americanization of Europe and the Americanization of the European political process. The overwhelming global power acquired by the United States in the post-Cold War era and the unilateral exercise of that power, especially after 9/11 attacks September 11, 2001 fed the anti-American sentiment contributing to its most militant manifestation."
- Unsourced: "European anti-Americanism well predates the invasion of Iraq and the Bush Administration, with criticisms of American "hegemonism", the coining of the term "hyperpuissance", and the dream of making the EU a "counterbalance" to the United States all flaring up in the '90s. "
...and so on. Please revert your own revert. Jumping into an extremely controverisal topic without knowing what you're doing doesn't help anything. All the edits I made were discussed in the Talk page. All the removed text violates policies on neutrality and original research. Your behavior borders on vandalism. Life.temp (talk) 00:49, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] accusations of "vandalism
How does it constitute vandalism? I own the book, I took the time to look up the relevant passages, I referenced FIVE different sections of the book, not online, the HARD COVER copy of the book, printed on paper, I listed my references properly and summarized the information therein.
If you have a problem with the content, I'm sorry, but that's what it says. If you want me to quote large sections of the book verbatim, I'll be happy to do that. The information is valid, its informative and its referenced. I don't know where you get off accusing me of vandalism: you are removing valid info from an article, YOU are the one vandalizing the page. I'm reverting it because you have no valid claim on destroying my very pain-staking research. Do you have an idea how long it takes to summarize information contained in a 700+ page book, with an index that only references names so I have to scan individual pages looking for my pertinent passages? I am very put out you high-handedly deleted my careful and thorough work. Please stop vandalizing the page, yourself.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.100.13.236 (talk) 23:52, April 28, 2008 (UTC)

Hi Thingg! I saw you have reverted edits (vandalism) those were done by user Faragali to the article M. S. El Naschie. This user has left a message in my talk page as well. Seems something is wrong with that article and must be "investigated". Here are some issues related to that article: 1. There are two articles about this person on wikipedia M. S. Both of those articles have been created by the same user User:Nasr2000 and are being "protected" by the user. Therefore, I suggest that edits of this user also should be investigated. [edit] Reverting on AdventureQuest
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on AdventureQuest. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Just a friendly heads-up. --Eruhildo (talk) 00:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Hi Thingg,
I'm very new to this and note that you've just made a contribution of mine (my first) 'Vandalism'. I've checked the definition and it says the following:
Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. The most common types of vandalism include the addition of obscenities or crude humor, page blanking, or the insertion of nonsense into articles.
Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism.
I don't thimk my contribution was obscene, crude or nonsensical (well, I know it wasn't). I've no idea what page blanking is. I was genuinely trying to improve the entry on Georga Lamb, who has caused a fair old fuss in England (and beyond). I recognise that my technical skills may not be up to much, yet, but I'm concerned at your actions. How can I correct this?
All the best,
HitTheNorth - not a vandal, honest! —Preceding unsigned comment added by HitTheNorth (talk • contribs) 10:52, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Question about an edit?
On the Gibson ES-330 model you reverted a series of edits from an IP. Just wondering what was wrong with the IP edits? On quick review the addition of the guitar model infobox seemed OK. Image was too big maybe. IP may have added in a couple of POV fan favorite model players.(thats commons on Wiki) Is there something I am not seeing? Just wondering. Cheers and take care. Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 22:37, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something there that I didn't see? The IPs other edits were rv'd by other editors so I thought I would double check. Cheers! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 03:45, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] PS3 date
In its current state, the long chain of cited dates are difficult to parse. The summarizing phrase makes the section easier to understand.
A closed beta was in progress in Europe in May 2007,[161] and an open beta was scheduled to be available in North America in early fall 2007.[160] However, at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show, Sony announced that the final worldwide launch of Home, which had originally been scheduled for fall 2007, would take place in Spring 2008.[162] SCEI President and Group CEO Kaz Hirai later explained that the launch was delayed for further testing and feedback evaluation to provide the best possible experience upon launch.[163] On April 21, 2008, Sony announced that Home would be delayed further and the closed beta would be extended until fall 2008[164], effectively delaying the service's availability to the general public by a full year.

Hey, I really like Huggle and I noticed your offer to send the source code by email on request. Then I noticed you don't have email enabled... If you don't want to send it out, I totally understand, but I haven't been able to successfully decrypt huggle beyond 19065 KB of machine code, even when using MS Visual Studio 2005 Pro Ed. (And wow does that mc hurt my eyes.... ;) ). If your offer is still open, I do have email enabled (what I've done in the past when emailing files to fellow users of teh wiki is to email them and tell them on their talk page, then they reply to the email to give me their actual email address and then I send them the file) and I'd really like to take a look at the code for that. Hi dear bro, the scripture that was found in Sorkh Khotal was not in Takhari language but in greec. The Tocharians have lost their language by adopting the Bactrian and Sogdian dialects when they invaded central Asia and became urban. Tocharian language is also not an iranic language since Iranic languages are belonging to the satem (100) groups. Tocharian language was belonging to the centum (100) group...that means the language was close to German, scandinavian languages and slavic languages.

If you can find any picture or shred of evidence from either the Orange order or Ian Paisley himself that prove he is a member (and considering he associates with the independant Orange Instituion which is in contravention of the "Laws, Ordinances and Constitution of the Orange Institution" and would cause him to be expelled) or was ever a member then i will accept the deletion of my information but on the other hand i would like it returned... i am not guilty of vandalism and if i have to speak to doctor paisley myself i will do so!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sword of the Lord and Gideon (talk • contribs) 21:40, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re; Spoilers
I guess from a certain perspective, you are right. This is an Encylopedia and should contain all data about everything, and should be updated as soon as the facts have been made public. In this case: The moment an episode airs, Wikipedia should contain every iota of data that was relayed in the episode. Heck, it should be updated live while the episode is airing.
However, I think it is very rude to put in the first line of an article one of the surprise elements of a pivotal episode. Not everybody had a chance to watch the episode when it aired; myself included. I should not have been using the internet until I'd watched it; But I had no idea somebody would be so careless/thoughtless and leave a big ol' spoiler right at the top of the page.
If you don't think it's rude to spoil something for someone else, then I guess that says something about you, doesn't it. AdamWeiler (talk) 01:59, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:PSN logo color.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:PSN logo color.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:48, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Arch & other
One of the oldest Jewish communities in the World exists in the Southern Mediterranean region, so I believe they should not be obliterated in discussions of the region. Furthermore, the Architecture article is insanely unreal. It is akin to grouping American (USA)architecture with Columbian or MAyan architecture or the architecture of the Amazonian tribes. It may be OK to write fairytales on WIkipedia and it has lasted for very long but isn't it time someone did something to correct it? I added simply tags to avert educated readers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.6.215.155 (talk) 01:15, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

- Yes, it's ok now. (I removed the tags) Just two suggestions to help you when creating and writing articles on Wikipedia: The first is, make sure your article is cited to reliable sources. Second, always write from a neutral point of view. This basically means that you present all sides of an issue in a fair and equal manner, do not include glorifying text or promotional material (unless a reliable third-party source says so: eg. Steven Spielberg is said to be an award-winning director because he has won several Academy Awards) Hope that helps. Thingg⊕⊗ 18:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

- Thank'ee much for joining! Your request has been approved and you are now a proud member of Wikipedia's only counter-vandalism cabal! Want a userbox to go along with it? (Also, we've got an InvisionFree board; check the cabal page.) 21655 ταλκ/01ҁ 00:50, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Watch your CSD tagging. Bio does not apply to companies. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 16:16, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- what? That was tagged db-bio? I was using twinkle and I clicked on the A7 tag thingy, so I don't know what happened. My apologies. Thingg⊕⊗ 16:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] P.S.153
Thanks for the heads up, I undid the revision as soon as I realized that I should have sent it to WP:PROD and that somebody had created the redirect, but my internet isn't exactly playing nice today, so it took a while. Best, PGWG (talk) 14:54, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] multiracial obama
Hi Thingg. My recent revert to multiracial had a quick blurb, and an explanation on the talk page. Cretog8 (talk) 15:17, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Um, nevermind. Hee! Cretog8 (talk) 15:17, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- yeah, my bad on that. I'm using an automated anti-vandalism tool and I hit the wrong button. My apologies. Thingg⊕⊗ 15:18, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] TCM Time Critial Manufacturing Page
Please review this page again - the intent is to give some insite into the Product - which users researching ERP products would be interested in...this page has been tagged for a speedy delete - I've made some changes - please advise.
thanks

- Now, someone has tagged it as being an advertisement - Should I go back to my original listing for WorkWise:
-
- And forget about the TCM page??? - In the ERP Software Section - it allows for pages about the product and the company - all the other vendors have similar pages to what I've submitted so I'm a bit confused. Help! :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Knightsl (talk • contribs) 17:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

- The TCM - Time Critical Manufacturing page you are referring to is a pure advertising page. Its main problem is that it does nothing to assert that the subject is notable in anyway. It reads like an advertisement and could well be a copy of a web page (which is not allowed per WP:COPYVIO. Please check WP:CORP for information on what is an appropriate corporate page to create on Wikipedia. Just being in business and selling a product does not make a company notable. [edit] Why did you call what I was doing "Vandalism"?
I'm really quite annoyed that you suddenly sent me 4 messages about vandalism and threatening to block me from editing. I have never done any such thing.
I have been a Wikipedian for a long time and never have I been called such ridiculous rubbish. Kindly tell me in what way was I vandalising.
I have created a new Category called WAGs because I'm currently working on the biographies of footballers' wives and girlfriends. I have created, for instance, Nuria_Bermudez just this week; this is a brand new article. I plan to do a new article for all the Spanish La Liga WAGs.
I then realised that there wasn't a WAGs category, so I created one: Category:WAGs.
Because Nuria looked a bit silly as the only WAG, I then went to the article WAGs and looked to see what other WAGs I could edit, and add the new category.
I was speeding through them all when you suddenly bombarded me with four messages, saying I was vandalising pages. I am most offended by this, and I should like an immediate retraction. But, furthermore, a full explanation as to why you believe that what I was doing could, in any way, constitute vandalism.
I particularly resent being told this from a Wikipedian who has only just joined 6 months ago. Quite who do you think you are? Furthermore, you are not British, therefore I cannot see what on earth you know about Cheryl Cole or Coleen McLaughlin.
I most certainly was not vandalising anything.Tris2000 (talk) 17:26, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah. Major, MAJOR my bad on that one. I'm really sorry about that. Please accept my sincere apologies. Thingg⊕⊗ 17:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WAGs
Hi. Can you comment on this please? I am not clear on any history that might be relevant. Cheers TigerShark (talk) 17:28, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that was a major cultural misunderstanding on my part. I am not at all familiar with acronyms associated with British sports and the only definition of "WAG" that I knew of prior to my "initiation" today is purely derogatory. I'm really sorry about that. Thingg⊕⊗ 17:43, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again. No problem. A very easy mistake to make when there is such a big difference in the meaning of the term. I'm still shocked when my American friends openly talk about their fannies! :) Cheers TigerShark (talk) 19:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
