This Night Has Opened My Eyes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This Night Has Opened My Eyes is a song by British band The Smiths. Lyrically, it describes the events of the play A Taste of honey by Shelagh Delaney. Journalist Dave Di Martino, in America's Creem magazine, has said that "'This Night Has Opened My Eyes' is likely the best Smiths track there is."

The song was featured as background music on Eastenders very shortly after the show began.

The song was covered by At the Drive-In on the Plea for Peace LP and later on as a bonus track on their This Station is Non-Operational compilation album.
