This New Day, BBC Radio Ulster, Sundays, 7.05am-8.30am.
Every week BBC Radio Ulster’s This New Day offers listeners a gentle and relaxing way to begin their Sunday mornings.
Presented by Kim Lenaghan ensures that it’s ‘easy like Sunday morning’ from 7.05am- 8.30am as she invites her listeners to join her and her guests for some chilled and sometimes cheeky chat and a playlist of engaging mellow music which includes everything from Nina Simone and Frank Sinatra, to Dusty Springfield and [[Duke Special]].
Kim says: “When my alarm goes off at 5am, I don’t exactly jump out of bed thinking ‘how fantastic to be getting up in the middle of the night’, but once I’m up there really is nowhere else I’d rather be than behind the microphone on This New Day."
“The vibe is definitely relaxed, though the chat can sometimes be a little bit cheeky, especially when my favourite celebrities are in the firing line."
“When I first started presenting the show, I used to wonder what my audience were doing up at that hour of a Sunday morning? Over the years I’ve discovered that most of them are actually still snuggled down under their duvets, nice and cosy, enjoying a cuppa, a chuckle and some splendid tunes. I’ve also lost count of the number of men who’ve told me they waken up with me every Sunday morning – even when their wives are with them!"
“There’s definitely a real bond between me and my listeners on This New Day. I think we really understand one another.”
