"This I Promise You" was the third single (fourth in some countries) released from *NSYNC's second album, No Strings Attached, released in 2000. The song was composed by pop singer Richard Marx.
The song is a ballad, with the lead vocals being sung by JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake.
"This I Promise You" was the group's fifth top 10 single in the US, reaching number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the autumn of 2000. The single was less successful internationally, reaching only 21 in the UK and failing to make the top 20 in Australia.
It was also the groups first single to reach #1 on the AC charts, and the groups 4th consecutive top 5 single.
[edit] Music video
The video, directed by Dave Meyers, shows the group all wearing turtlenecks singing in a forest, with different shots of different love relationships being shown in bubbles floating around the forest. At the key change, the video switches to the group sitting at a table at an outdoor eatery, with little girls blowing bubbles around.
MadTV spoofed the video on December 16, 2000, with "This We Promise You", mocking and exaggerating the group's clean-cut image.
