Thill Sharief ( ٹھل شریف ) is a village in Jhelum District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated between Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil. Thill Sharief is located at the bottom of the mountain of same series where Khewra Salt Mines is. The famous River Jhelum is also few miles from Thill Sharief

[edit] Geography & Biography

Thill Sharief ( ٹھل شریف ) is located in Salt Range. The famous Salt mine Khewra (کھوڑہ) is very near to this village. As the same mountain touches this village as well. The land of this village is flat and good for cultivation. Water is the main problem in this village. As it is in salt range so water is also have an effect of this. On East side of the vallige there is Shrine of Baba Rata Watha (بابا رتا وٹا) “Red Stone”, This Shrine is Made of Red Stone and people use the stone to rub on the joint for the Relief of pain of Joints, West side of village there is Tomb of Shabil Shah (شھابل شاہ) “people use to go for the prayers to recovered from skin problem”. North Side there is Shrine of Bawa Rodo (باوہ روڈو). South Side there is Shrine of Baba Jhara Wala (باوہ جھاڑا والا ), There is a tradation in Rajput (راجپوت) family to go there after marriage because he is the eldest of all Janjua Rajput (جنجوعہ راجپوت) famaily. Pindi Saidpur ( پنڈی سیدپر) is a small town situated near Thill Sharief. People of Thill and surrounding villages come to that town for there basic necessity of life such as Food, Medicine, Doctor, Education and transport. Jalalpur Sharief is the major town because of his historical importance(Alexander The Great fight with Porus). Pinan Wal is a major town as well.

Thill enjoying all four Weather Summer is long and hot, Winter is also very cold. As it is situated under the mountain so wind speed is very fast, which affect people lifestyle. In Monsoon heavy rainfall recorded in the village, which help people for cultivation. In summer people start there work before sunrise and finish when sunrise, when sun is near to set people finish there work which they left in morning time. Summer days were very long and hot, people stay in there home or under the trees and take there cattle under the trees as well. In winter its opposite to summer people start there when sunrise and finish before sunset. Very strong wind blow all the time in the village which make Weather more worst.

In village the [Punjab Government] Education System followed and there is no co-education system in schools. For boys the school is up to primary level (grades one through five), for girls the school is for up to both primary and middle level (grades one through eight) after successfully finish studying in village boys and girls go to Pindi Saidpur for there further education. In Pindi Saidpur there is also no co-education so schools were different and up to high level (grades up to ten) leading to the Secondary School Certificate. All schools run under the [Punjab Government] and affiliated to [Rawalpindi Education Board]. Islamic education is must in all levels of education all over the Pakistan and same in the village but some children go to Mosque as well to learn and read Al-Quran and other basic Islamic education. Before two generations the education system in village is not up to this level so village people go to nearest school and colleges which were in Jalalpur Sharief, Pind Dadan Khan and Jhelum (city). The village has honour to produce Doctor, Engineer, Army Officer, Teachers and IT Professional so far who serve in Pakistan, UAE, KSA and Europe.

From last few years the [Punjab Government] make a small Dispensary where a Doctor with two nurses perform there duties. The doctor only gives basic health facility and medicine. Nearest hospital is in Jalalpur Sharief "Civil Hospital", which gives free service for everyone and in Dariala Jalap Fauji Foundation Hospital which give services for all and free only for those who served in Armed Forces and there families.

Local transport Van and Busses operate from Jhelum to Pind Dadan khan and from Pind Dadan Khan to Jhelum is used to reach Thill Sharief. The distance from Jhelum city to Thill Sharief is 66KM and from Pind Dadan Khan 32KM. It is on 40km Traveling from M2 "Motorway 2" From Lilla (للا) InterChange. And 200km from Islamabad. The nearest city is Jhelum District, Rawalpindi, Sargodha. Coordinates: 32°41′35, N°73′19
