[edit] Thioacetals and hemithioacetals
The article describes the formation of thioacetals as follows:
- RSH + R'CHO → R'CH(OH)SR
If thioacetals are the thio equivalents of acetals, however, they should have the general formula R'CH(OR)SR, not R'CH(OH)SR. The latter would be a thiohemiacetal, would it not?
